Song of the South

Uncle Remus' Wonderland ( Song of the South ) is a Disney film from 1946, appear together in the real actors and animated characters. The musical is based on the Uncle Remus stories - of Joel Chandler Harris.

Content

The film is about the dark-skinned, old slave Uncle Remus, who befriends a white boy. In between, he tells the boy three stories about MeisterLampe that are shown as cartoons.

The German premiere was only on 12 March 1982. For the synchronous version Heinrich Riethmueller responsible.

Others

  • The film was not shown in the U.S. because some as racially classified content since 1986 in the cinemas and not yet released on VHS and DVD.
  • In the UK and Germany only a VHS has been published so far. In Germany the film was the last time in 2001 on television. A release for an international DVD release rejects the current board of the Walt Disney Studios.
  • Disney is currently working on a restoration of the film, which will be completed before the end of 2012. A subsequent publication, however, is not planned as before.
  • The voice of Br'er Rabbit ( Meister Lampe ) comes from Jesse Olden Cryor.

Awards

At the Academy Awards in 1948, the film for the song Zip -a -Dee- Doo - Dah was written by Allie Wrubel and Ray Gilbert Award in the category of Best Song. He also received a nomination for the score. James Baskett was awarded an honorary Oscar for his contribution to the film.
