Sonny Stevens
Sonny Stevens ( born June 21, 1992, Hoorn, North Holland ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper. Since the 2013/14 season, he is in the squad of FC Twente in Enschede.
Career
Stevens began his career in the youth of the Hoorn amateur association Always Forward - like his father John, who in the Eredivisie guarded the gate for DS '79 and '67 AZ. In its first few years, Sonny Stevens still played as a center forward. Only towards the end of the F- youth he moved to the gate, which he defended from the D- Jugend FC Volendam. Despite an illness of the glandular fever, he sat down here in all youth classes by and was in the 2010/11 season his debut in the Eerste Divisie. The following season he was already replaced ten times the number one, Robbin Ruiter. In the season 2012/13 he became the first-choice goalkeeper of the second division; the Volendam reached the relegation playoffs, where they won three games with Stevens, however, had to bow to the climber Go Ahead Eagles.
For the 2013/14 season FC Twente committed Ehrendivisionär the 21- year-old who should be behind Nikolai Mikhailov second goalkeeper Enschede. Even in the preseason, however, Stevens suffered a shoulder injury that would put him out of action for several weeks. Since Mikhailov flirted with a change of club, Twente extended the contract of the previously lent to the Go Ahead Eagles Nick Marsman.
In addition to the football training Stevens completed a training course at the Johan Cruyff College.
