Southeast Asian Games

The Southeast Asian Games are sports competitions of Southeast Asian Nations. They are held every two years. In Southeast Asia, they are called English SEA Games.

History

On May 22, 1958 during the 3rd Asian Games in Tokyo, decided representatives of Thailand, Burma (Myanmar ) (now Malaysia), Laos, South Vietnam and Cambodia to establish the Federation of Malaya a Southeast Asian Sports Association, the cohesion in the region to strengthen. Was in charge Laung Sukhumnaipradit, then vice president of the Thai Olympic Committee.

The first Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, in which also participated in Singapore were held in Bangkok from 12 to 17 December 1959. The 1963 Games were canceled by the organizer Cambodia. From 1977, Indonesia and the Philippines also attended, and the name was changed to South East Asian Games ( Southeast Asia Games ). Brunei two years later was taken at the 10th Southeast Asian Games, and East Timor in 2003 at 22 games.

Thailand hosted the previous six Southeast Asian Games, Malaysia five, four Indonesia, Singapore three, the Philippines three, Burma (Myanmar ) two games; Brunei, Vietnam and Laos were once each organizer.
