History

Previous club was Éveil Monceau, a club of Monceau- sur -Sambre, also a 1977 eingemeindetem district that was represented in the 70's some seasons in Korac Cup. 1989 reached the summit in the first Belgian League and was followed by the founding of the club Spirou Charleroi as. It was followed by two more runner-up: 1994 had to admit defeat for the third time in succession Mechelen in the play- offs; a year later they finally switched from Mechelen in the semifinal, but failed to Sunair Oostende in the final.

Then succeeded the 1995/96 season the obligation of Eric Struelens from the bankruptcy estate of Mechelen and with it the revenge against Sunair in the play-off finals and thus the first championship. This was associated with the Cup win against the same opponents, so you not only won both national titles for the first time, but this same as Double. It was followed by three additional championships in series to 1999; first turn Ostend was defeated in the finals, then twice Giants Antwerp. The last championship in this series in 1999 was in turn connected to the Cup victory. 2000, they failed to defend his title in the semifinals at the eastern end, against which they lost in the following two seasons each in the finals. For this, you could celebrate against double winners Ostend at least 2002 Cup victory after the Cup Final defeat in 2001.

In the season it could not only defend the Cup title, but won the championship one more time in the final against RBC Verviers- Pepinster. During the season it is lost both national finals, the Cup against the Baskets of lions, and in the championship against Euphony Bree. 2006 you missed quite the leap into the top four teams in the championship, what you can correct it with the first place in the main round of the championship tried a year, but in the semi-finals of the play-offs once again failed to Euphony Bree.

In the 2007 /08 season the team played in the main series started with not so convincing, but after a coaching change you stood in the end again with the championship because after remaining unbeaten in the play- offs and this time the main round First of Bree defeated. Two more league titles followed, connected in the 2008 /09 season with the fifth Cup victory and fourth double. 2010 we won the qualification of the ULEB Euro Cup 2010/ 11 by the German representatives Alba Berlin and reached for the first time since 2001, the main round of the highest European competition, which was in the past years, no other Belgian club successful. The same was repeated in 2011, after the championship they won the qualifying tournament for the ULEB Euro League 2011/12 before the home crowd, where you turn Alba Berlin defeated among others. After going to retire again in the first round of the Euro League, changed point guard Demond Mallet of the year in the short term to Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv, but returned to their departure in the quarter-final play-offs Euro League began again to Spirou back. Nevertheless, they lost the fifth and decisive final game of the championship Ostend in the extension and thus missed in succession the fifth championship success.
