Spišské Bystré

Spišské Bystré ( until 1948 slovak " Kubachy "; Kuhbach German, Hungarian Hernádfalu - to 1907 Kubach ) a municipality in Okres Poprad Prešov is the Region, with 2430 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the basin Hornádska kotlina at the confluence of the streams Bystré and Kubašok, of which the former, in turn, empties into the Hornád north of the town. To the north of the narrow mountain range rises Kozie chrbty, while to the south is the Low Tatras. Spišské Bystré is located nine kilometers from Poprad.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1294 as a villa Cubach writing. The name refers to the main activity - livestock and agriculture - towards. The fate of the village is closely linked to the monastery in the near Spišský Štiavnik, who commissioned a gentleman Helebrant to start as mayor a town in the upper valley of the river Hornád. The place had a mixed Slovak- German population.
