Staré Sedliště

Stare Sedliště ( German Alt Zedlisch ) is a municipality with 1061 inhabitants ( 28 August 2006) in the Czech Republic. It is located 7 km southeast of Tachov at an altitude of 512 m.

South of Staré Sedliště runs the Dálnice 5 / Europe 50 road, the place also is situated on the railway line from Svojšín to Tachov.

History

The first mention of Zedlissie dates from 1177, in 1429 the first time the name Antiqua Sedlisczt was used. In 1531, the execution of the robber baron Johann Thomas Absberg was. In the Tachauer church records of 1572 the place is referred to as a town and in 1622 the first seal of the market has been handed Altensetlisch. 1720 can be the reason of Mr. Matthias wish joke on the square is a statue of St.. Johannes Nepomuk up.

Between 1772 and 1776 Ignaz Edler von Born owners of manorial Old Zedlisch, however mainly lived in Prague and worked. In 1785, the castle was rebuilt. In the fires of 1790 and 1839 large parts of the village and the town hall were destroyed. 1838 took a brewery on the operation. In the conversion of 1860 the Town Hall was given its present shape.

In today's district of Nové Sedliště there was formerly a synagogue of the Jewish community of the town. To the church today still remembers the location on the western edge of Nové Sedliště Jewish cemetery with grave stones from the early 18th century.

1844 acquired the Marienbader doctor Karl Josef Heidler the basic rule and until 1945 the castle remained the property of the Heidler family.

In 1910, Old Zedlisch received with the construction of the line from Taus plan after a railway connection. 1939 1,195 people lived in the market town.

On May 1, 1945, the Americans occupied the place and until 1946 the German inhabitants were expelled.

After the Velvet Revolution, a joint service with the former residents was held in the church on 1 September 1990, which takes place every year since then. Since 2002, the village has the right to fly a flag.

The municipality Staré Sedliště include the districts Labuť ( Labant ) Mchov ( Innichen ), Nové Sedliště ( New Zedlisch ) and Úšava ( Uschau ). In the community hall and the abandoned village is Bohuslav ( Wusleben ).
