Stéphane Demol
Stéphane Demol ( born March 11, 1966 in Boitsfort ) is a Belgian football manager and former football player.
Career as a player
Stéphane Demol came at the age of 14 years for RSC Anderlecht, where in 1984 he began his professional career. In his first full season at Anderlecht defender 1985/86 scored 4 goals in 17 games and was named national coach Guy Thys before the 1986 World Cup in Mexico for the first time in the Belgian national team. In the 1986 World Cup he played all seven games of the Belgians and achieved legendary round against the favored Soviet Union in the 102 minutes of play the hits for interim 3:2 for Belgium. This was his only goal in its entire national career. Total played 38 times for Belgium.
In 1988 Demol of Anderlecht in the Italian Serie A for Bologna FC. The breakthrough he was not able here and so he moved a year later to the Portuguese club FC Porto. In the 1989/90 season he played a key role with 31 games and 11 goals in the profits of the Portuguese championship. National coach Guy Thys nominated him at the end of this season again for the squad of Belgium to the Football World Cup 1990 in Italy. After the World Cup, he moved to France to Toulouse, to return a year later to Belgium Standard Liège. With his move in 1993 to Cercle Brugge his star began to decline. In subsequent years, he came into his clubs only to a few uses. He tried annually in new associations abroad: Sporting Braga, Panionios Athens, FC Lugano and at Sporting Toulon in the French second division. Career as a coach
In 1999, he began his career as a coach. At first he was a player coach for the Belgian amateur club SK Hall. From 2000 to 2003 he was chief responsibility for trainers for the Belgian club KV Turnhout, KFC Verbroedering Geel and KV Mechelen for one season. In 2004 he tried his first time abroad as a coach and took over the Greek club AO Egaleo Athens. After a short time as an assistant coach at Standard Liege 2006, the new Belgian national coach and his former national teammate René Vandereycken made him his assistant coach. Demol remained in this role until 2008 when Belgian association. In 2008 he took over in Cyprus Ethnikos Achnas as a coach and coached briefly in 2009 the Belgian club Sporting Charleroi. From the season 2010/11 he is the coach of the Greek second division club PAS Giannina.
