Steve Lee (singer)

Steve Lee (born 5 August 1963 Horgen as Stefan Alois Lee, † October 5, 2010 in Mesquite, Nevada, United States) was a Swiss musician and lead singer of the band Gotthard.

Life

Steve Lee, the son of a British father and a Swiss, was born on 5 August 1963 in Horgen. Later his family moved to Ticino, where he learned the trade of a goldsmith. At age 12 he bought his first drum set. In 1988 he was forsale drummer of the band. In 1990 he founded together with colleagues from the Swiss rock band Krak which was shortly afterwards renamed Gotthard. Lee became the lead singer of the nation's most successful band to this day Switzerland and was acknowledged as its figurehead.

In addition to his work at Gotthard Steve Lee sang along with Bo Katzman and John Brack a cover version of Beatles songs With a Little Help from My Friends, which came in at number 18 of the Swiss single charts in 1999. He was also to listen to the album published in 2008 01011001 by Ayreon, the progressive rock project of Arjen Lucassen as a guest singer. In 2009 he sang at the Tonhalle in Zurich with Jon Lord in Classic. For 2011, the first solo album was planned.

Lee saw himself as a " rocker with decency ' and was never because of great scandals in the press; he was rather a frequent talk show guest. Death

On October 5, 2010 Steve Lee was killed in a traffic accident on a motorcycle tour on Interstate 15 near Mesquite, Nevada. A truck went out of control and threw five parked motorcycles through the air, one of which killed the singer. Lee died later at the accident site.

A public farewell ceremony with over 3000 visitors found On October 17, 2010 at the Hospice held at the Gotthard Pass. His fellow band members of Gotthard, Steve Lee's life partner and numerous celebrities took part in the ceremony.
