Styrian Spirit

Styrian Spirit was the brand name of the Styrian Airways AG, an Austrian regional airline based in Unterpremstätten near Graz ( Styria).

History

The Styrian Airways AG was founded in 2003 by the HGI Beteiligungs AG and an individual, founded in 2001. Through the participation of Carinthia Carinthian Spirit was also one of the brand name. Board of Directors from January 2006 until the bankruptcy was Andrew Rösslhuber. Other brand names were Slovenian Spirit and Salzburg Spirit. The primary target group of Styrian Spirit were business, on weekends there were also offers for tourists. It only Canadair jets were operated by Bombardier.

Salzburg Airport announced end of March 2006, he would take part with a grant of 1.5 million euros to the airline.

Insolvency

On 24 March 2006, the airline ( debts of several million euros ) had to file for bankruptcy due to serious financial difficulties. The bankruptcy proceedings were opened on 28 March 2006. The liabilities amount according to bankruptcy administrator about 9 million euros. Styrian Spirit was the airport Graz and Salzburg Airport still owe landing and handling fees in recent months. Graz Airport were lost by the disappearance of airline line connections such as Stuttgart and Zurich. Stuttgart has since been operated by Austrian, Zurich was acquired by Swiss short term. From 2007, Zurich was served by Robin Hood Aviation, which has to be notified in August 2011 even bankruptcy. Even the airport Salzburg went line connections lost after Zurich and Paris.

In September 2005 a loan without collateral in the amount of two million euros was awarded to the already financially difficult ailing airline to operate the Carinthian governor Jörg Haider by Hypo Alpe-Adria - Bank. The Executive Boards of Hypo Alpe Adria Bank Wolfgang Kulterer and Gert Xander were indicted in this context because of infidelity. In January 2013, the process for the award of credits the Hypo Alpe Adria to the Styrian Spirit was resumed at the Klagenfurt Regional Court. Both boards were subsequently sentenced to long prison sentences.
