History

The station was opened on August 15, 1880 as a breakpoint south end of the Anhalt line. Between 1882 and 1899 he had the double name south end - Lankwitz. In 1901, the railway line was lowered, the station was rebuilt and received a central platform. This and the reception building are located southwest of the bridge of the Steglitz dam. Since July 2, 1929, the suburban train runs at 750 volts DC. Following the acquisition of the S -Bahn by the SNB on 9 January 1984, the section Priesterweg light field south was shut down with the south end of the station and re-opened after renovation work until 28 May 1995.

Architecture

The station building from 1901 is no longer available. It has been replaced by a newer building. The central platform has a roof in the classic S- Bahnmachart: a pitched roof, which is supported by cast iron columns. Station building and platform are connected by a covered staircase. She was executed in typical " greenhouse architecture ".
