Geography

The Sülzetal is surrounded by the fertile Magdeburg and connects directly to the area of the state capital Magdeburg. The predominantly gently undulating, treeless landscape reaches a height of just over 100 m above sea level. NN ( Heßberg 103 m). History

The fledgling congregation was formed on 1 April 2001 from the previously independent municipalities Altenweddingen, Bahr village, Dodendorf, Langenweddingen, Osterweddingen, Schwaneberg and Sülldorf. These communities were previously members of the same administrative community Sülzetal. The eighth member community Beyendorf, this step did not go with the direction of a unified community, but was annexed by referendum in the city of Magdeburg.

The present-day districts Sülldorf and Osterweddingen were already 937 first mentioned in documents. In Altenweddingen the first lignite was promoted in 1768 in Prussia.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 18 October 2005 by the county. It was designed by the Magdeburg graphic artist Rudolf Pötzsch.
