Svojšice (Pardubice District)

Svojšice ( German: Swojschitz ) is a municipality with 204 (3 July 2006) inhabitants in the region Pardubice ( Pardubice Region, Czech Republic).

Geography

The village lies on the edge of Swintschaner forest at the confluence of the streams Struha ( Strouha ) and Small Struha ( Malá Strouha ).

History

The village was first mentioned in the year 1346. Built in 1365, the castle was abandoned after the Thirty Years' War, the ruins of the towers and residential buildings have been preserved.

Traffic

There is a road which leads from the northern Chrtníky through the village to the main road after Stojice 17.

Culture and Sport

In addition to the volunteer fire department there is a hunting association and the sport club Svojšice. Also located on the outskirts a greater natural outdoor stage, which is used for music festivals and other cultural events since the 1980s.
