Åšwierklaniec

Świerklaniec ( German: Neudeck ) is a village and seat of a rural community in Silesia in southern Poland. Świerklaniec is around 30 km from Katowice. The community Świerklaniec four hamlets and has about 11,000 inhabitants in an area of 44.3 km ², while in place about 3,500 people live independently. The main attractions are the partially preserved castle Neudeck and the castle in the district Nakło.

Geography

Świerklaniec lies on the northern edge of the Upper Silesian plate 5 kilometers north of Piekary Śląskie and 7 km east of the county town of Tarnów Gory. East of Świerklaniec extends the reservoir Kozłowa Góra, which marks the eastern boundary of the community and the historical Upper Silesia together with the Brynica ( Brinitza ). The history of the place Świerklaniec is strongly associated with the local castle. A first seat of power was constructed in the 11th century. 1477 the name of the border castle Swiklenczy first mentioned.
