Åšwierklaniec
Świerklaniec ( German: Neudeck ) is a village and seat of a rural community in Silesia in southern Poland. Świerklaniec is around 30 km from Katowice. The community Świerklaniec four hamlets and has about 11,000 inhabitants in an area of 44.3 km ², while in place about 3,500 people live independently. The main attractions are the partially preserved castle Neudeck and the castle in the district Nakło.

Geography
Świerklaniec lies on the northern edge of the Upper Silesian plate 5 kilometers north of Piekary Śląskie and 7 km east of the county town of Tarnów Gory. East of Świerklaniec extends the reservoir Kozłowa Góra, which marks the eastern boundary of the community and the historical Upper Silesia together with the Brynica ( Brinitza ). The municipality has an area of 44.3 square kilometers and is covered by 43% forest ( mainly pine ).
History

The history of the place Świerklaniec is strongly associated with the local castle. A first seat of power was constructed in the 11th century. 1477 the name of the border castle Swiklenczy first mentioned. In possession of the Hohenzollern was the place from 1532 to 1621 Since 1629 Świerklaniec headquarters was a line of the noble family of Henckel von Donnersmarck. ; as these were the village as a pledge, the name Neudeck was first mentioned.
Since 1742 Prussian, the village was connected to the March 27, 1873 the district Tarnowitz. Neudeck presented a manor, the south of the road Tarnowitz - Siewierz and southwest of the castle park and extended 1885 551 inhabitants counted. The Gut Neudeck also formed an office district, the last covered the rural communities Old Chechlau, Brinitz, Koslowagora, New Chechlau and Orzech and the Old Chechlau estate districts, Koslowagora, Neudeck and Orzech.
Today Świerklaniec has over 3,500 inhabitants - the building extends mainly north of State Road Tarnów Gory - Siewierz. However, this area is actually the place Old Chechlau (1910: 1.438 inhabitants) is that (1910: 503 inhabitants) located north of the actual, much smaller Gutsdorfes Neudeck extended and is now risen in shuffle mode.
While the plebiscite in Upper Silesia 1921 on the Good Neudeck 279 or almost 80 % of the valid votes were cast to remain with Germany, voted in Old Chechlau 63 % in the other districts of over 80 % for connection to Poland. So Neudeck including surrounding areas in 1922 was part of Poland and renamed Świerklaniec. However, the castle and the place was still owned by the family until 1945 Donnersmarck. In the interwar period, it was the residence of the President of the Mixed Commission for Upper Silesia Felix Calonder and stayed as an independent observer to comply with the rights of the German minority. A Catholic Kuratie Świerklaniec in 1929 set up in 1931 collected for independent parish. As a church only served a wooden church, which was replaced in 1989 by the parish church of Christ the King. The municipal area, a reservoir was built ( Kozłowa Góra ) for water supply 1935-1939. 1945 burned down the new and the old castle and both were later demolished. An artificial lake was created in 1973 in Nakło - Chechło, which also has a water tank on the one hand, on the other hand, today is also used for recreational purposes.
