Sylvia Rose

Sylvia Rose or Silvia Rose ( born December 23, 1962 in Barth as Sylvia Müller) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic, which was founded in 1988 Olympic champion in four with coxswain.

Sylvia Müller was from 1980 coxswain of the quartet and the rowing eight of the SC Berlin- Grunau. While they indeed multiplefunction second and third places in the GDR championships in eight, she was in the foursome 1980, 1982 and 1986-1988 GDR champion. In 1986, she occupied at the World Championships in Nottingham together with Kerstin Spittler, Beatrix Schroer, Corinna Scheid and Carola Lichey second place. In 1987, she contributed Carola Hornig, Gerlinde Doberschütz, Martina Walther and Birte Siech for the World Championship behind the Romanians. In the same cast as 1987, the boat won at the East German Championships in 1988. Shortly before the Olympic Games in Seoul married Sylvia Müller and joined the Olympic Regatta as Sylvia Rose. The boat from the GDR won before the quad from China and the Romanian world champions.

1988 Sylvia Rose was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.
