TANS Perú

TANS Perú ( Transportes Aereos Nacionales de Selva ) was a Peruvian airline based in Lima. She led by domestic regular flights and maintained a technical base at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima. In January 2006, her approval was withdrawn.

History

TANS - Transportes Aéreos Nacionales de la Selva was approved by the Peruvian Air Force ( Fuerza Aérea del Peru ) and Transport Division 42 established in 1964 in Iquitos in order to develop connections in the eastern Amazon basin. But initially were Douglas C -47, de Havilland Canada DHC- 6 Twin Otter 300 and Pilatus PC -6 Turbo Porter, partly equipped with floats, available. In addition, as MBB Bo105 helicopter belonged to the fleet. More accurate data are based on the former military secrecy difficult to evaluate.

1991 the fleet consisted of 5 PC-6, 5 ​​and 9 Bo105 DHC -6 -300. As of May 1992, up to seven Yunshuji Harbin Y -12 from China, comparable to the de Havilland Canada DHC- 6 Twin Otter, were part of the fleet of TANS Perú.

When the great Peruvian Airlines Faucett and Aeroperú had to suspend its operation, extended the license for TANS on 20 January 1998 and moved its headquarters to the capital Lima. The Army transferred a Fokker 28 and more, actually, for they provided Boeing 737-200 from the Transport Division 8 of the TANS.

In mid-January 2006, the Peruvian government of their state-owned airline withdrew the approval for operation due to security concerns. This was preceded by a crash in August 2005, and two emergency engine failure.

Incidents and accidents

  • January 2003: The crash of a Fokker 28 in the northern Peruvian province of Chachapoyas 46 people died.
  • August 23, 2005: Flight 204 came down the road from Lima to Iquitos at the stopover in Pucallpa in a hail storm. As a result of unclear responsibilities between the pilot and co-pilot and another pilot error the plane crashed near the airport. 58 of 98 people on board survived the disaster.

TANS Perú operated regularly Arequipa, Cuzco, Iquitos, Juliaca, Lima, Piura, Pucallpa, Puerto Maldonado, Tacna, Tarapoto and Tumbes.
