Taoyuan County, Taiwan

The Taoyuan County (Chinese桃园 县, Pinyin Xiàn Taoyuan, Taoyuan Tongyong Pinyin Sian, W.-G. T'ao -yuan Hsien, PEH oē - jī Tho - hng koan ) is a district of the Republic of China on Taiwan. He is in the northwest of Taiwan.

The name of the county town of Taoyuan means " peach garden ". The surroundings was especially in the past characterized by numerous peach trees. Today, the Taoyuan County is one of the most densely populated areas of Taiwan and is an important industrial center.

On 25 December 2014, the Taoyuan County is to be raised to the centrally-administered city.

Location

The Taoyuan County is bordered by the city of New Taipei City in the northeast, Yilan County to the southeast, the district Xinzhu in the southwest and the Formosastraße in the northwest. The central part consists of a circle to the southwest adjacent to the Taipei Basin flat and hilly landscape.
