Tärnaby

Tärnaby ( South Sami Dearna ) is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historic province of Lapland.

The village in the municipality of Storuman is located 125 km north-west of Storuman älv located about 70 km from the Norwegian border on the upper reaches of the river Ume.

Tärnaby is one of the largest ski resorts in Sweden. In Tärnaby the Swedish skier Ingemar Stenmark, Stig beach, Jens Byggmark and Anja Parson grew up. A ski museum in the village is dedicated to them. Furthermore, a seed museum with collections from Tärna and Sorsele from the 18th and 19th centuries in Tärnaby.
