Teloschistales

Ordinary Gelbflechte ( Xanthoria parietina )

The Teloschistales are an order of ascomycetes ( Ascomycota ) and comprise mainly lichen -forming species.

Features

The representatives of the order form from different types of thalli, such as leaf and lichens. The coloration is very variable, with Physciaceae it is based mostly on atranorin in Teloschistaceae on different anthraquinones.

As photobionts occur mainly species of green algae genus Trebouxia, more rarely, other chlorococcale green algae.

Many representatives have polar diblastische ascospores, which often have wall thickening on the inside.

System

The Teloschistales are a monophyletic group. They fall into two groups, with the first, also known as subordination Teloschistineae out, are already longer counted among the Teloschistales. They include the following families ( with selected genera and species according to Eriksson, 2006):

  • Letrouitiaceae with the single genus Letrouitia
  • Teloschistes chrysophthalmus
  • Petite Gelbflechte ( Xanthoria elegans)
  • Ordinary Gelbflechte ( Xanthoria parietina )
  • Xanthoria polycarpa

According to studies by Miadlikowska et al. (2006) also families from the Lecanorales are now counted among the Teloschistales than their own subordination Physciineae:

  • Caliciaceae with 9 genera
  • Physciaceae with 34 genera, such as Anaptychia Anaptychia ciliaris
  • Physcia adscendens
  • Physcia aipolia
  • Physcia caesia
  • Physcia stellaris
  • Physcia tenella
  • Physconia distorta
