Temple Houston (TV series)

Temple Houston is an American Western series that was produced 1963-1964.

Action

The plot is loosely based on the life of the historical Temple Lea Houston, a lawyer in the Wild West. As a lawyer, he defended usually innocent defendant and must convince the jury acquittal of his client. In later episodes, he operated partially self as a detective to prove the innocence of his clients.

Background

Temple Lea Houston was a lawyer and 1885-1889 Member of the Senate of Texas. He was the son of the President of the Republic of Texas and later Senator and Governor of Texas, Sam Houston.

The pilot for the series called The Man From Galveston was built in 1957, but was initially not broadcast. Only when a time slot was released by scheduling difficulties, people remembered the concept. Since except the lead actor was none of the other actors in the short term available, the roles were reshuffled. The pilot was evaluated in 1963 as a feature film.
