TendÅ, Yamagata
Tendō (Japanese天 童 市, -shi) is a city in Yamagata Prefecture in Japan.
The city Tendō is famous in Japan especially for their Shogi game stones.
Geography
Tendō lies south of Higashine and north of Yamagata. The eastern parts of the city lie at the edge of the Ou Mountains. The Mogami flows through the city from south to north.
History
Tendō was founded on 1 October 1958.
Attractions
- The Ryūshaku -ji ( Yamadera ) is the most famous temple in the city. He had great influence on Matsuo Basho's Oku no work hosomichi.
- Tendō - Onsen ( Hot Spring ), a bathroom that is invested in the form of a Shogi - playing piece.
