Terry Bozzio

John Terry Bozzio (* December 27 1950 in San Francisco) is an American drummer.

Career

He attended Sir Francis Drake High School in San Anselmo, California. Bozzio became known. Due to his work with Frank Zappa ( including his appearance in the concert film Baby Snakes ), and finally with the band UK He is famous for his performances of the play The Black Page ( German: The black side ), which Zappa had originally written to test musicians. The piece is considered a " nightmare of a musician ", as it is musically so dense that the sheet music is almost entirely black. Also exemplary is his vocal duel with Zappa in the play Titties & Beer ( album Zappa in New York).

Bozzio is known for its particularly large and composed of many parts especially drums.

He lives in Austin.

Musical participation

Bozzio founded the group Missing Persons with his then wife Dale Bozzio (vocals), the two former Zappa musicians Warren Cuccurullo (guitar) and Patrick O'Hearn (bass ) and Chuck Wild ( keyboards).

The musical spectrum of the drummer is broad. It is reflected in the cooperation with different bands and musicians. These include Duran Duran, Jeff Beck, Chad Wackerman, Steve Vai, Steve Stevens, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Robbie Robertson, Gary Wright, Don Dokken, Paul Hyde, Herbie Hancock, Dweezil Zappa, Richard Marx, The Knack, KoЯn and Fantômas. The resultant with Jeff Beck and Tony Hymas album Guitar Shop (1989 ) was awarded a Grammy Award in 1990.
