Tex Hamer

Ernest Alexander " Tex" Hamer ( born October 4, 1901 in Junction, Texas, USA; † 1 May 1981 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was an US- American football player in the National Football League ( NFL). He played fullback for the Frankford Yellow Jackets.

Playing career

Southwestern Hamer studied at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1924, he signed a professional contract with the Frankford Yellow Jackets. His team at the All-Pro player Herb Stein and his brother Russ stone this year won the runner-up in the NFL. She had won eleven of 14 games. Hamer played outstanding in the season and had contributed 12 touchdowns for the victory of his team. No player of his team could score more touchdowns.

In 1925 Guy Chamberlin took over as coach in the team from Frank Ford. Chamberlin ran at the same time as a player for his team. During the season, the later a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame William R. Lyman joined the team. The team won 13 games this year and lost seven games. With seven scored touchdowns he scored again the best value of his team.

The year 1926 was the most successful year for game Hamer. The Yellow Jackets went 14 times win the game, lost a game and played twice in a draw. They won with this performance the NFL Championship against the trained by George Halas Chicago Bears. Hamer reach this season two touchdowns. For winning the championship, the players of the team were given a pocket watch as a master premium.

After the 1927 season Hamer ended his football career.

After the career

After his playing career Hamer denied several pro fights as a boxer. Four of his seven fights he could win. Three of his victories he achieved by knockout.

Honors

Southwestern Hamer was elected three times to the All-Pro because of its sporting achievements.
