Thalang District

Amphoe Thalang ( Thai: อำเภอ ถลาง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of Phuket Province. The Phuket province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

History

Thalang is the historical center of Phuket Province, known as Mueang Thalang. The governor was at that time the title Phraya Thalang ( พระยา ถลาง ). The current district of Thalang was only established in 1898.

Geography

The county is bordered on the southeast by Amphoe Thalang Mueang Phuket and on the southwest by Amphoe Kathu, Amphoe Takua Thung lies to the north of the province of Phangnga, which can be reached via a bridge over the Pak Prah Strait.

Traffic

The Phuket International Airport is located in the district of Thalang. The main highway is Highway 402, which leads in a north-south direction from the bridge over the Pak Prah Strait from Phuket Town.

Attractions

  • Thalang National Museum - located in the vicinity of the battlefield of the " Battle of Thalang ," the women of Thalang beat in 1785, the Burmese army to flight. On display are antiquities from Phuket's long history.

Management

The district has six subdistricts (tambon ), which in turn in 46 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Krasattri Thep ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เทพ กระษัตรี ) consists of parts of the Tambon Thep Krasattri,
  • Choeng Thale ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เชิง ทะเล ) consists of Tambon Choeng Thale parts of the.

There are still six - Tambon administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) in the district.
