The Velveteen Rabbit (Album)

The Velveteen Rabbit is a collaboration of the American pianist George Winston and the American actress Meryl Streep. Winston accompanied at the piano by the reading Streep from the children's book by Margery Williams in 1958. Reading and music were also used for a 1985 produced by Rabbit Ears Productions and Random House Video cassette with illustrations by David Jorgensen.

Publication and chart success

The album reached in April 1985 Course 180 on the Billboard 200 and stayed 4 weeks. It was in 1986 nominated in the category Best Recording for Children for the Grammy.

The album was reissued in 1988 in the format of compact disc and 2003 as a 20th Anniversary Edition in the same format.

Reception

Heather Phares of the music database Allmusic awards in her review of the maximum score. She says that The Velveteen Rabbit was extremely well as a fine children's album as well as a prudent set of piano solos.
