Thessaloniki Airport is a Greek airport at Thessaloniki and the main airport of the Greek North. Its official name is Makedonia Airport (Greek Αερολιμένας Θεσσαλονίκης Μακεδονία ), named after the region of Macedonia and the historical region of Macedonia.
It is also used as a military airfield by the Greek Air Force. During the Second World War, operating from here occasionally German aviator distress.
Airlines and destinations
Aegean Airlines flies to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart to most destinations in Germany. Location

Approach
Bus lines 78 and 78N run through the city center and the train station to the national KTEL buses station. (40-60 min). Extension
The airport was overhauled in 1997 and will be further expanded as a result of rising passenger numbers. Following the expansion, a new terminal with jetways arise, and to enable the runway 10/28 which already ends in the sea ( end 10 ) can be further extended to 1,000 meters into the sea. This measure serves the goal of creating takeoff and landing capacity of larger aircraft; the resulting runway 10/28 ( new) would have a length of 3.440 m and a width of 50 m. Approach
