Thorbjörn Fälldin
Nils Olof Thorbjorn Fälldin [ ˌ u ː nils lɔf tu ː ː ɳ rbjø fɛl ˌ din ] ( born April 24, 1926 in Högsjö ) is a former Swedish politician who served in 1976-78 and 1979-82, the Office of the Prime Minister.
Since 1971, party leader of the agrarian Centre Party ( Centerpartiet ) of Norrland farmer Fälldin was after the general election in 1976 as the first non - Social Democratic politician for 40 years Prime Minister. He led a coalition of the Centre Party, the Liberal People's Party and the conservative Moderates. Because of disagreement over the use of nuclear energy - Fälldin himself was a prolific opponent of nuclear power - broke the coalition, however, in 1978 and was replaced by the Liberal minority government Ola Ullstens.
In the 1979 election, the bourgeois parties won again the majority, and although now the moderates and not the Centre Party were the largest Civil Group, Fälldin was chosen again as Prime Minister of a bourgeois coalition of three.
