Tiago Mendes

Tiago [ tiaɣu ] (born 2 May 1981 in Viana do Castelo, Tiago Cardoso Mendes actually ) is a Portuguese football player.
Since January 2010, he plays for Spanish club Atlético Madrid.
Career
His first season played Tiago 1999 at Sporting Braga. In December 2001, he moved to Benfica eleven months later he made his debut in the Portuguese national team. At Benfica he scored 13 goals in 31 games. In the 2003 /04 season he won the Portuguese Cup with the capital club.
Tiago was true for the 2004 European Championships, which took place in their own country, nominated, but did not play. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens he was injured. After one season at Chelsea in England Tiago joined in August 2005 for 10 million euro transfer fee for French club Olympique Lyon. In the 2006 World Cup in Germany, he came to five appearances.
On 21 June 2007 Tiago was obliged by Italian giants Juventus. Juve paid a transfer fee of 13 million euros at Olympique Lyon. In Turin he has been unable to show the expected benefits of it. Tiago was often only be replaced by Claudio Ranieri and criticized partly hard by the media and fans. In the summer of 2008, several clubs were interested in his commitment, but the Portuguese refused all offers and stayed in Turin.
In January 2010 he moved after he had come under the new coach Ciro Ferrara only brief appearances, for the second half of the 2009/10 season on loan at Spanish side Atletico Madrid. In summer 2010, the Portuguese for a year and a rental fee of one million euros was awarded again to Atlético Madrid. For the 2011/12 season he was firmly committed to Atlético Madrid.
