2004–05 FA Cup

The FA Cup 2004 /05 was the 124th edition of the world's oldest football cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup, or FA Cup shortly. This Cup season started with 661 clubs. Until the completion of London's Wembley stadium the final remained still at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

The cup competition began with the Extra Preliminary Round on 28 August 2004 and ended with the final on 21 May 2005. The winner of this discharge was the Arsenal.

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Can participate, each team that has a given level of performance and has an adequate pitch. The game is played i.d.R. with only one leg. In draw a second leg takes place. The return game also ends in a draw the game goes into extra time and penalties. This mode goes up to the sixth main round. From the semi-finals, there is only a game, if necessary, with extra time and penalties.

Some teams are exempted from certain rounds:

  • In the second qualifying round, the teams of the Conference North / South (6th flight of English league operations ) are added.
  • In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the National Conference will be added (5th flight of English league operation ).
  • In the first round the teams in the League 1 and 2 Football League ( 3rd and 4th flight of the English league operations ) are added.
  • In the third main round on the first weekend of January, the teams of the Football League Championship will be added (2nd flight of English league operation ) and the Premier League (1st flight of English league operation )

Each winner receives a premium from the television money, which is staggered after round.

Main Round

First Main Round

In the first round enter each of 24 teams in the Football League One and Two in the competition.

The games were played until November 14, 2004 on the 12th. The replays took place between November 23 to 25.

Second Main Round

The Games were held from 3rd to 5th December 2004. The replays were held on 14 and 15 December of the year.

Third main round

In this round, the teams enter the FA Premier League (20 teams) and the teams of the Football League Championship (24 teams) in the competition.

The games were completed on Wochenenbde the 8th January 2005. Necessary repetition games were scheduled for January 17 to 19.

Fourth Main Round

The games were held on 29 and 30 January 2005. The replays required were held on 12 and 13 February.

Fifth Main Round

The meetings were held on 19 and 20 February 2005. The replays were held on 1 and 2 March of the year.

Sixth Main Round

The games were held on 12 and 13 March 2005.

Semifinal

The matches were played on 16 and 17 April 2005. The venue was in both cases, the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.
