Tin Hat

Tin Hat (initially Tin Hat Trio ) is an acoustic fusion band, which operates out of San Francisco. History

Burger and Orton completed a classical music studies at the Juilliard School; Burger then worked in the field of jazz. After they had met the violinist Carla Kihlstedt in a summer camp, they moved to San Francisco to work from there as a trio. Burger left the band in late 2004, which then toured as a quartet with Ben Goldberg and Zeena Parkins guest. In the summer of 2005 the band grew by Ara Anderson, who had accompanied Tom Waits. It is now taken its place Rob Reich.

Already in 1999 released debut album Memory Is an Elephant was praised by the critics: " Such an original hybrid of jazz, folk and chamber music had not heard since the early Oregon. " Even for the next albums the band moved guest soloists like Tom Waits or Willie Nelson approach. The Sad Machinery of Spring came to terms with the life of Bruno Schulz. The album The Rain Is a Handsome Animal 17teiligen contains a song cycle with texts by EE Cummings, to which all four members of the band have contributed compositions.
