Tobias Grünenfelder

Tobias Green Fields ( born November 27, 1977 in Elm ) is a retired Swiss ski racer. He specializes in the disciplines of Downhill, Super-G and giant slalom. In the course of his career he was able to win a World Cup race. His sister Corina and his brother were also Jürg skier.

Biography

Green Fields drove in his junior giant slalom and slalom time mainly. The first missions in the European Cup he had in January 1996, a year later he repeated the first top- 10 ranking at this stage. He won his first FIS race in November 1996. On January 5, 1997, he made ​​his debut in the World Cup, the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora. However, the open fields had trouble finding, connecting with the world leaders, for the first World Cup points were two more years away. This he achieved on 5 January 1999, again in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora.

In the season 1999/2000 Green Fields had to show no countable World Cup result. He renounced further slalom start and began to gradually turn the speed disciplines - initially without success. On 19 January 2002, he won the European Cup for the only time a race, a giant slalom in Saas -Fee. During the 2001/ 02 season, the first time he get top 10 rankings in the World Cup. Shortly after he had participated in the 2003 World Cup, he scored on 23 February 2003 as the third in the Super -G in Garmisch- Partenkirchen the first World Cup podium. The second followed almost a year later at the same place and in the same discipline.

Also was third green fields, had the finish line but passes correctly in the downhill in Bormio, after crashing a few meters before the finish line on 29 December 2005. In this incident, he retired to a medial ligament tear in his right knee and then had to pause several weeks. At the end of the season he won the first of six Swiss champion titles. From the season 2005/ 06 Green Fields played in the World Cup no longer giant slalom. Despite the specialization followed several winters with average results.

In Vancouver, he made 2010 his best result at the Olympics, 9th place in the Super -G. Towards the end of the 2009/10 season he scored another third place in a World Cup race. On 28 November 2010 he won the Super - G in Lake Louise; it should this be his only World Cup victory. In the 2011/12 season he could only sporadically classify in the points, in the 2012/13 season, he was no more than 29 square. Due to absence of successes he ended his sports career in March 2013.
