Tom Fleming (actor)

Thomas " Tom" Kelman Fleming CVO OBE ( born June 29, 1927 in Edinburgh, † 18 April 2010) was a Scottish actor, director and poet, a wider public, especially as a longtime spokesman for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and commentator of the Euro Vision Song Contest 1972 in Edinburgh was known.

Life

Theater actor and director

Fleming began his acting career immediately after the Second World War and made ​​his debut as " Bruce McRae " in The Late Christopher Bean by Emlyn Williams during a tour in 1945 in India.

In 1953 he was one of the founders of the Gate Theatre in Edinburgh where he performed until 1962, not only as an actor, but also staged plays as a director. Subsequently, he was in 1962 a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and appeared there for the first time in the title role of " Cymbeline " in William Shakespeare's eponymous work on. In 1963 he returned to the RSC back to Stratford -upon -Avon and played this time the " Prospero " in Shakespeare's The Tempest.
