Tom Hamilton (musician)

Thomas William "Tom" Hamilton ( born December 31, 1951 in Colorado Springs, Colorado) is the bassist for the American rock band Aerosmith. Even as a songwriter Hamilton has been involved in some Aerosmith songs. He is married and has two children.

As a 11 -year-old Hamilton began to play the guitar. However, he later found only one band that was looking for a bass player, so he took over the bass. The band was called Sam Citrus and the Merciless Tangerine and played cover songs of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, Tom was then 14

In addition, the bands Pipedream, Plastic Glass and The Jam Band followed. Here he played together with the future of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.

In 1969, apart crossed the paths of Joe Perry and Steven Tyler, The Jam Band went and the formation of a new joint band stood before Aerosmith.

Since then, Hamilton heard continuously to fill the band.

The Aerosmith classic Sweet Emotion from 1975 album Toys in the Attic co-wrote Hamilton. This song is especially marked Hamilton's bassline. In the hit singles Janie 's Got a Gun ( from the 1989 album Pump) and Jaded ( from the 2001 album Just Push Play ), he was again co-songwriter.

Beginning of September 2006 it was announced that Hamilton is suffering from laryngeal cancer and must undergo chemotherapy.
