Nine Lives (English: " Nine Lives " ) is the twelfth studio album by the American hard rock band Aerosmith. It was released in March 1997 on Columbia Records. It failed to match the success of Get a Grip, but reached number one on the Billboard 200 and stayed 77 weeks in the U.S. chart listed. In Germany it reached number three on the charts, where it remained for 30 weeks. The third single Pink won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees ) 1998 was nominated for it. The album itself was nominated 1998 album for the Grammy Award for Best Rock, but could not win it.

Formation

Aerosmith signed a multimillion dollar contract with Columbia Records, without having any previous contract with Geffen met. This was a major success pressure of holding in the production of Nine Lives on the band. For the first time in three produced by Bruce Fairbairn albums other producers were requested. The first group worked with Glen Ballard, who had brought about the success of Alanis Morissette. But then they decided on Kevin Shirley, who had been working for Silverchair and Journey. All songs were written by professional songwriters. Until early 1998, six singles were released, two of them as promotional singles.

Reception

According to the awards at least 6.5 million copies were sold of Nine Lives, thus roughly half as much as was its predecessor. Stephen Thomas Erlewine criticized from the website Allmusic.com that the album costed sword, as if it had been picked up by a band trying to sound like Aerosmith. The album was overproduced, the songs are not "catchy ". He forgave two and a half stars out of five.
