Music from Another Dimension! is the 15th studio album by the American hard rock band Aerosmith. It is the first studio album since the harmonica - dominated Honkin 'on Bobo in 2004.

Formation

The album was recorded in various American studios on 5 July 2011 to April 2012. Most of the songs were written by the band themselves, but they were also known songwriters such as Diane Warren, Desmond Child and Jim Vallance involved. The album was recorded in different phases, the first attempt was in 2006, then a prolonged period followed after the world tour in 2007, which lasted until 2009. 2009 would have almost singer Steven Tyler quit the band, which had been searching for a successor in early 2010. The differences, however, were settled in February 2010. After another tour in autumn 2010, the band went into the studio in the summer of 2011.

Reception

In the U.S., the album reached number five on the Billboard 200, in Germany the album reached number seven in the Media Control Charts. Overall, the album received rather mixed reviews. In Metacritic scoring the album 54 out of 100 points based on 22 reviews in English. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic wrote, this "big -budget blockbuster telegraphs did Aerosmith is indeed broadcasting from another dimension, a dimension where splashy kitchen-sink album from rock bands sell millions of copies on Could sheer momentum alone. " ("... this blockbuster big budget telegraphs that Aerosmith really sends from another dimension, a dimension where rippling kitchen sinks albums of rock bands with force alone can sell millions of copies. " ) He missed three out of five stars.
