Trigger Alpert

Herman "Trigger" Alpert ( born September 3, 1916 in Indianapolis, Indiana, † December 21, 2013 in Jacksonville Beach ) was an American jazz musician (double bass) and photographer.

After studying in Indianapolis, he joined the band of Alvino Rey and moved in 1940 to Glenn Miller; even in the successor band under the direction of Tex Beneke was listening to the bass player. Then he went into show business and accompanied among others, Frank Sinatra, Caterina Valente, but also worked with Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich.

First shots were taken in 1940 near Frankie Trumbauer; on plates he can be heard in the formations of Glenn Miller, Roy Eldridge, Ray McKinley, Louis Armstrong, Bernie Leighton, Ray McKinley, Tony Motolla, Jackie Paris and the Sauter - Finegan Orchestra. In the field of jazz, he participated 1940-1972 in 338 recording sessions.

From 1950 he worked as a studio musician at CBS in New York, where he worked for several radio and television programs, such as the Gary Moore Show and as an accompanist of Carol Burnett, Dick Van Dyke and Barbara Streisand. The only known record under his own name was in October 1956; Trigger Happy on Riverside Records. recorded. You can hear Trigger Alpert as a companion to the singer Lurlean Hunter (on Atlantic Records ) and at several sessions of the guitarist Mundell Lowe for Riverside Records. In 1955 he accompanied the singer Ted Straeter on the LP ( Atlantic Records ). In 1970 Alpert the music business, we would just act as a photographer and live in Ponte Vedra Beach.
