Tropine

The Tropanole are derived from the tropane, a hydroxy substitution at C- 1, C -2 or at C -3 atom is present. For the 2 - and 3- Tropanol two stereoisomers can be distinguished. In the α - Tropanolen the hydroxy group axial, in which β - Tropanolen equatorial to the ring system.

Properties

(1R )-1- Tropanol is (R) - (methylamino ) cycloheptanone in a tautomeric equilibrium.

Occurrence

Tropanole and derived tropane alkaloids come in several plant families, especially in the nightshade family ( Solanaceae ). For example, in henbane ( Hyoscyamus niger), in the deadly nightshade ( Atropa belladonna ) and in various Datura species ( Datura sp. ). The (1R )-1- Tropanol can be found in the Andes berry (Physalis peruviana ). Also found in Real scurvy grass ( Cochlearia officinalis, Brassicaceae) with the Cochlearin Tropin as the alcohol component. The other families: Proteaceae, Convolvulaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Rhizophoraceae and Erythroxylaceae. It could be demonstrated that the development of the necessary enzymes for the biosynthesis in solanaceous and Rotholzgewächsen took place independently.
