Trosly-Breuil
Trosly - Breuil is a commune in the Oise in the Picardie region with an area of 1098 acres and 2129 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The town is located 80 km north of Paris at Compiègne in the valley of the Aisne channeled here at an altitude of 39 meters above the sea level. It borders the forest of Compiègne and has a small harbor on the Aisne, the Port de la Joyette.
History
Previously unassigned is the statement that the Frankish kings had, at that time possessed royal appanage, a palace in Trosly - Breuil. Ebroin, Meier house under the reign of Dagobert II, they transferred the Abbey of Soissons.
Parts of the church are preserved from the 15th century from the late Middle Ages.
Trosly - Breuil became known in the early 20th century for the airship hangar by Adolphe Clément. He built here in 1908, the airship Clément- Bayard No. 1, at least five more were to follow. The no. One broke the record of the closed circular flight with the no. 2 the first successful English Channel crossing.
In 1964, the Canadian Jean Vanier founded together with the two mentally handicapped Frenchman Philippe Seux and Raphaël Simi in Trosly - Breuil, the first community of the organization L'Arche, which is now used in 36 countries. With the stated goal, to be a sign of hope, loyalty, solidarity and reconciliation for the world, these clergymen Community promotes the coexistence of people with and without disabilities.
