Clairoix
Clairoix is a northern French village with 2114 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Oise in the Picardie region. It belongs to the district Compiègne Compiègne and Canton North.
Geography
The community Clairoix lies at the mouth of the Aisne in the Oise, just to the northeast of the city of Compiègne.

Industrial history
The French small town with only 1,979 inhabitants had long national significance. In the 1920s, the Belgian tire manufacturer Englebert founded in Clairoix a production facility for bicycle and automobile tires. Following the acquisition of Englebert by the German Continental AG in 1979 the work was continued until 2009 and finally closed on 11 March, which led to violent protests in the region.
