Tschanigraben is a municipality in the district of Güssing in Burgenland in Austria with 68 inhabitants ( 2011).

The Hungarian name of the village is Sándorhegy.

Geography

Tschanigraben located in Southern Burgenland is the smallest municipality in Burgenland and the third smallest town in Austria. There are no other places in the community.

History

The place was like the rest of Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary). Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name Sándorhegy.

After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations.

The place belongs since 1921 to the newly founded State of Burgenland (see also history of Burgenland ).

The distribution of seats (9 seats) in the municipal council is 7 SPÖ, ÖVP 2 mandates.

Council election:

Austria is known far Tschanigraben for the voting behavior of its population in municipal elections. The SPÖ reached - the absence of other lists - always unanimous results of the valid votes. In the 2012 election, the ÖVP entered and reached 28.17 % of the vote.
