Neuberg im Burgenland is a municipality in the district of Güssing in Burgenland in Austria. The Hungarian name of the village is Újhegy, the Croatian village name is Nova Gora. The population of the Burgenland Croats has a strong presence in the town.

Geography

The municipality is located in southern Burgenland. Neuberg im Burgenland is the only place in the community. This includes the Neuberg Mountains.

History

In Neuberg is a Croatian -foundation of the 16th century. In 1576 the resettlement Nowaghora ( = Neuberg ) is first mentioned. The village was part of the rule Guessing the Batthyány family. Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name Újhegy. The place was like the rest of Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary).

The right to bear the coat of arms of the municipality was first awarded by a decision of the State Government on 16 November 2010 and then on May 20, 2012 during a ceremony in the country also Hans Niessl was present.
