Tullio De Piscopo

Tullio De Piscopo ( born February 24, 1946 in Naples, Italy ) is an Italian percussionist, pop singer and fusion musician.

Biography

De Piscopo studied at the Conservatory of Music and was already experimenting in the 1970s with synthesizers. He worked with Gerry Mulligan, Astor Piazzolla, Gato Barbieri, Lucio Dalla, Pino Daniele and wrote film scores. From the combination of folk elements with jazz and electronic music, a special style emerged. His great fame in Italy had De Piscopo to thank the cooperation with such jazz greats as Quincy Jones, Billy Cobham, Bob James and Stéphane Grappelli. On his 1984 album aqua e viento he played with trumpeter Don Cherry. The single stop Bayon ( Primavera ) was also placed in some European countries in the singles charts.
