Turnau, Styria
Turnau is a market town with 1562 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Styria, judicial district of Bruck an der Mur and in the political district of Bruck- Miirzzuschlag, at the foot of the high Schwab. The municipality covers 134.28 km ².

Geographical Location
Turnau is located approximately 17 km north-east of the district capital of Bruck an der Mur.
Structure
The municipality consists of the following cadastral (area 2001): Göriach ( 1410.40 ha), Seewiesen ( 4025.03 ha), Stübming ( 6356.18 ha), Thal ( 1213.47 ha), Turnau ( 399.86 ha).
The municipality comprises the following six localities ( in parentheses population as of 31 October 2011):

- Seewiesen (51, 974 m)
- Stübming (139, 860 m)
- Thal ( 46)

History
The place itself seems to Turnau for the first time in a document from 1268. The finding in the church wall shows that the Catholic church "St. James the Elder " is created at least in the 14th century. Only after several centuries, the church received its independence. Since 1959 the parish Turnau reports to the Diocesan Bishop of Graz- Seckau.

Turnau is a member in December 2, 2009 Regionext small Hochschwab South, and in the LEADER area Mariazellerland - Muerztal.
Regarding community structure reform 2010-2015 the church remains perhaps independently, even a merger with the safe converging Aflenz and Aflenz country is possible ( 3-fold solution ). In Discussion is also a further merger with St. Ilgen / Etmißl / Thoerl ( 6 solution), but the latter part Thoerl merger is uncertain.
