Twickenham Stoop

The Stoop is a stadium in the south London borough of Twickenham. It can accommodate 14,816 spectators and is the home stadium of two rugby clubs, the Harlequin FC (Rugby Union ) or by Harlequins Rugby League ( rugby league ). Both are represented in the respective highest English leagues.

The Harlequin F. C. played in 1906 in the far more famous Twickenham Stadium, which is just a few hundred meters away. In 1963 the club acquired a 57,000 -square-foot athletics site on which subsequently the new stadium was built.

First was the official name Stoop Memorial Ground. In 2005 it was renamed the Twickenham Stoop Stadium, but the unofficial name is far more common in use. Named the stadium is by Adrian Stoop, a Dutch immigrant, who played for the English national team and during 29 years, President of the Harlequin FC had.
