The University of Trento is a state university in the northern Italian town of Trento, in the Trentino -Alto Adige and the second largest university in the European Region Tyrol.
The institutions of the University are in two different places in the city itself and distributes a branch in neighboring Rovereto. In the city center there are the departments of economics, sociology, law, literature and philosophy. History
The University of Trento was founded in 1962 as the College of Social Sciences. The Institute later became the first Department of Sociology in Italy. The relationship between the university and the city was in the beginning ambivalent: on the one hand, placed the University a drive for cultural openness and the promotion of education is, on the other hand it was because of a critical discussion of the students to tensions with the conservative local bourgeoisie.
In 1972, the study programs of the university on mathematics, physics and natural sciences, including engineering were expanded in 1973 was added the business faculty. 1984 was completed with a liberal arts institution and a jurisprudential expansion of the college to a full university. Internationalization
The University of Trento has settled from the initial value to the development and maintenance of international partnerships. The University of Trento is the seat of the German - Italian University Centre, an institution that deals with the coordination of educational and research activities between German and Italian universities.
Rating
