The University of Trento is a state university in the northern Italian town of Trento, in the Trentino -Alto Adige and the second largest university in the European Region Tyrol.

The institutions of the University are in two different places in the city itself and distributes a branch in neighboring Rovereto. In the city center there are the departments of economics, sociology, law, literature and philosophy. History

The University of Trento was founded in 1962 as the College of Social Sciences. The Institute later became the first Department of Sociology in Italy.
