Unterramsern

Unterramsern is a municipality in the district of Bucheggberg the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Geography

Unterramsern is 475 m above sea level. M., 11 km south-southwest of Canton main town of Solothurn (air line). The hamlet extends at the southern foot of Bucheggberg, at the edge of the broad level of Limpachtals, in the Solothurn Plateau.

The area of ​​1.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molassehöhen of Bucheggberg. The southern boundary runs along the canalized Limpachs. From here, the communal land extends northward over the intensively farmed plains to the adjacent, densely forested slopes of Bucheggberg. The southern slope of Chalgen has several short gullies. At the edge of the high plateau of the Egg in Aetigkofen is 600 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Unterramsern. From the municipality surface 1997 7 % was attributable to settlements, 29 % of forest and shrubs, 63% to agriculture and slightly less than 1% was unproductive land.

To Unterramsern include the western part of the settlement Brittern (472 m above sea level. M. ) on the edge of Limpachtals at the southern foot of the Britterenhubels as well as some individual farms. Neighboring communities of Unterramsern are fairs, Buchegg in the Canton of Solothurn and Limpach and Mülchi in the Canton of Bern.

Population

With 213 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Unterramsern one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Solothurn. Of the residents 98.9 % are German and 0.6 % speak French (as of 2000). The population of Unterramsern amounted in 1850 to 221 residents in 1900 to 170 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population further increased to 1970 from 129 people. Since then, a significant population growth was recorded again.

Economy

Unterramsern was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including companies in the wood processing and the electrical industry. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions of Solothurn and Bern.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares on a road from Lohn along the southern foot of the Bucheggbergs after measuring. By Postbus course, which serves the route of Bätterkinden for Masses, as well as by the Paratransit Bucheggberg Unterramsern is connected to the network of public transport.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1276 under the name Rambsern, although it is not clear whether the term refers to Oberramsern or Unterramsern. The name goes back to the old Swiss German word rams ( wild garlic ).

Since the Middle Ages Unterramsern was under the rule Buchegg, which was part of the County of Burgundy country, acquired in 1391 from Solothurn and was converted to the Bailiwick Bucheggberg. Until 1798, the high court was the Bernese district court Zollikofen while Solothurn with the Aetingen of court exercised the lower courts. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) belonged Unterramsern during the Helvetic Republic to the district Biberist and from 1803 to the District Bucheggberg.

Attractions

In the center some characteristic farmhouses with pulled down low hipped roofs from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved. Unterramsern does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish Aetingen mill village.
