Oberramsern

Oberramsern was until December 31, 2009, a municipality in the district Bucheggberg the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. On 1 January 2010, the merger of the municipalities Balm bei Messen, fountain valley, fairs and Oberramsern was completed measuring the new community.

Geography

Oberramsern is 475 m above sea level. M., 12 km south-southwest of Canton main town of Solothurn (air line). The hamlet extends at the southern foot of Bucheggberg, at the edge of the broad level of Limpachtals, in the Solothurn Plateau.

The area of ​​1.8 km ² large former municipal area included a portion of the Molassehöhen of Bucheggberg. The southern border ran along the canalized Limpachs. From here, the communal land extended northward over the intensively farmed plains and the steep, densely forested southern slope of Bucheggbergs ( Ramserenberg ) up to the edge of the plateau. On the Eggholz ridge is 640 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Oberramsern. From the former rural community area in 1997 accounted for 6% of settlements, 28 % of forest and shrubs, 65 % to agriculture and slightly more than 1% was unproductive land.

Neighboring communities of Oberramsern were fairs, Balm bei Messen, Lüterswil - Gächliwil, Aetigkofen and Unterramsern in the canton of Solothurn and Mülchi in Canton Bern.

Population

With 87 inhabitants ( 31 December 2008) Oberramsern was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Solothurn. Of the residents give 100% German as their mother tongue (as of 2000). The population of Oberramsern amounted in 1850 to 127 residents in 1900 to 116 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population increased to 1990 from 85 persons. Since then a slight population growth was recorded again.

Economy

Oberramsern was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding and forestry have an important place in the economic structure of the population. Some other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available. In recent decades, some families have moved there, bringing the number of commuters has increased in the regions of Solothurn and Bern.

Traffic

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a road from Lohn along the southern foot of the Bucheggbergs after measuring. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1276 under the name Rambsern, although it is not clear whether the term refers to Oberramsern or Unterramsern. 1368 appears the unique naming of Oberramseron. The name goes back to the old Swiss German word rams ( wild garlic ).

Since the Middle Ages Oberramsern was under the rule Buchegg, which was part of the County of Burgundy country, acquired in 1391 from Solothurn and was converted to the Bailiwick Bucheggberg. Until 1798, the high court was the Bernese district court Zollikofen while Solothurn with the Aetingen of court exercised the lower courts. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Oberramsern belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district Biberist and from 1803 to the District Bucheggberg. With effect on 1 January 2010 merged with Oberramsern Balm bei Messen, fountain valley and measuring the new community fairs.

Attractions

In the center some characteristic farmhouses with pulled down low hipped roofs from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved. Oberramsern does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish fairs.
