Utrecht–Kampen railway

The railway line Utrecht - Kampen, also called Centraalspoorweg, is a two-track, electrified main railway largely between Utrecht, Amersfoort, Zwolle and Kampen. The railway line is one of the major train routes in the central Netherlands. The distance is about 101 kilometers.

History

The first section of the route between Utrecht and Hattemmerbroek, a few kilometers south of Zwolle, was opened in 1863. A year later, the part between Hattemmerbroek and Zwolle. The final section between Zwolle and Kampen ( Kamperlijntje ) in 1865 and opened to traffic. The electrification of 1942 on the piece between Utrecht and Amersfoort instead. On the Utrecht city the route is four tracks, three tracks in the area Amersfoort.

Train services

Currently operating on the route section in Amersfoort - Zwolle Intercity trains from Schiphol to Groningen from Amsterdam to Amersfoort CS - Schothorst and a regional train from Amsterdam to Amersfoort Vathorst. From Utrecht Amersfoort go on InterCity trains from Den Haag CS to Groningen, Den Haag to Enschede and Rotterdam CS to Leeuwarden.

On the section of Zwolle, Kampen, only a Stoptrein drives ( regional train).
