Valery Belousov

Valeri Belousov Konstantinovich (Russian Валерий Константинович Белоусов; born 17 December 1948 in Novouralsk Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current coach. Since October 2010 he is head coach at HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Valeri Belousov ran as a hockey player from 1975 to 1981 for the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the highest Soviet game class. He then moved to the league rivals Crystal Saratov, with whom he played after relegation in 1982 up to end of his career after the 1987/88 season at the age of 40 years in the second division.

From 1990 to 1995 he worked as a coach at Traktor Chelyabinsk. In summer 1995, Belousov took over as coach at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Russian Super League, who won up to this point, either nationally or internationally a title. This led the Russians in 1999 and 2001 to win the championship, as well as on europäsischer level in 1999 and 2000 to victory in the European Hockey League. In the 1997/98 season the former Soviet national team was also with Magnitogorsk in the championship final, but was defeated by Ak Bars Kazan opponents. In the same season he was with his team's Cup winner.

For the 2003/ 04 season Belousov signed a contract with Avangard Omsk HK, with whom he was in the playoff final victory against his former club from Magnitogorsk. As a Champion of Russia, he participated with the team in January 2005 for the first time organized IIHF European Champions Cup, which the team won sovereign. Since the 2008/ 09 season of success coach arrived back at Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League behind the gang. After fifteen years, he returned in October 2010 as head coach of Traktor Chelyabinsk.

Internationally

For the Soviet Union Belousov 1976 he took part in the first edition of the Canada Cup, where he finished in third place with his team.
