Vaľkovňa

Vaľkovňa ( German Ferdinandsthal or upper Švábolka, Hungarian Nándorvölgy ) is a town in central Slovakia.

It lies in the basin of the Horehronské podolie in the valley of Hron at the foot of the Low Tatras and Slovak Ore Mountains and is about 35 km from Brezno.

Part places in the municipality were first mentioned in writing in 1612; the actual church was built in the 18th and 19th centuries around an iron hammer, which had been erected on the common field of Šumiac, and remained until 1954 officially a part of this community. The name derives from a sheet metal hut, which was built here in 1834, from.

In addition to the main town include Nová Masa ( German Ferdinand hut), Švábolka and Zlatno to the municipality.
