The Varese railway station (Italian: Stazione di Varese ) is the state railway of the northern Italian city of Varese. It is operated by the Company CentoStazioni SpA, a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato SpA, .
The station is the starting point of the railway lines Gallarate - Varese Varese and Postage Ceresio. These routes are operated by RFI.
Location
The station is located east of the city center and has a total of five platform tracks. The station building is a Typenbau the SFAI, which was also built in other Lombard stations from the same period (Lecco, Lodi, Mantova and Pavia).
The train station is a few meters south of the station Varese Nord, which is part of the regional railway company Ferrovie Nord.
History
The station was built in 1865 as the terminus of the line Gallarate - Varese. 1894, the railway line Varese Porto Ceresio was opened.
